OUR RESOLUTION
“I accept the Ngāti Porou ki Hauraki Rūnanga Trust as the Post Settlement Governance Entity to receive and manage all of the historical Treaty of Waitangi settlement redress including Fisheries, Aquaculture and Takutaimoana on behalf of Ngāti Porou ki Hauraki.”
He Mihi
Tēnā koutou ngā uri o Ngāti Porou ki Hauraki,
For the first time since the incorporation of NPKH in 1987, we are near the end of a gruelling process and have lost many magnificent tipuna along the way. Our negotiators, Trustees (on consecutive Trusts) and researchers have worked over many years to arrive at this stage of our settlement journey.
We are still the largest Māori Land owning Iwi in the Hauraki. We are close to achieving the necessary milestone requirements to negotiate a Treaty Settlement with the Crown.
We have secured an Agreement in Principle (AIP) with the Crown, we need iwi support to establish a Post Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE). A PSGE needs to be legally capable of receiving our Treaty Settlement assets. Having a PSGE, positions Ngāti Porou ki Hauraki with the best possible chance to secure a settlement.
Achieving a treaty settlement will help futureproof the next generation. This is your opportunity to have your say and vote ‘Yes’ on our new Post-Settlement Governance Entity
